My name is Abel M. Baker. I graduated from Texas Baptist University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology with a minor in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. I received my Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Baylor College of Medicine. I am interested in the position as a physical therapist in your hospital.
I successfully completed my undergraduate studies with the highest honors and excelled at the top of my class in my graduate studies to pursue a career as a physical therapist. I have received experience in the field through shadowing many major physical therapists across the region for multiple consecutive years. I have gained extensive knowledge of the field through my training and curriculum. Through conducting research in exercise and science-based fields, I have acquired a great mass of knowledge equipping me with a great understanding to become an extraordinary physical therapist.
My involvement in various clubs throughout my education shows my passion for not only my field of study, but for my community as well. I am involved in the National Biology Society, Therapy Club, Red-Cross, and countless other inspiring organizations. I demonstrate my passion for others and my community through volunteer work in my area such as helping the elderly in nursing homes and volunteering at the Houston Food Bank. I believe the qualities of a remarkable physical therapist is displaying your true interest in the wellbeing of others.
I trust that I possess all the great qualities of a successful physical therapist. One can see through my extensive education and involvement in my community that I am compassionate, hardworking, knowledgeable, and committed. Hard work and the commitment to pursue wisdom is the key to excellence in any field. The qualities that I have will greatly support me to go above and beyond to become an excellent physical therapist.
I believe I would be an excellent fit for this position at Houston Children’s Hospital because I have a great passion for children as well. The additional training that I have received regrading child development will contribute as a valuable asset for this position. I greatly align with the mission statement of Houston Children’s to “create a healthier future for children and women together by leading tirelessly in-patient care, education, and research.” I value the importance of teamwork by cooperating with the physicians, nurses, and other staff so the children can receive the best care possible. I truly have a passion for physical therapy because in this field there is only room for improvement. The work of physical therapist truly captivated me from a young age, and I was inspired by how they help people regain their strength.
